The scale that sets
the tipping fee
At a landfill or a transfer station the scale is the cash register. Every load that crosses it is revenue, and a deck that stops weighing stops the gate — so the scale is specified for traffic volume first and capacity second.

Tipping fees are calculated at the scale house, which makes the deck part of the billing system. The 8140 puts a mechanical side-arm weighbridge at grade level, so trucks approach without a ramp and the whole assembly sits above ground where you can see it. It carries NTEP Certificate of Conformance 88-036A2, with Measurement Canada approval AM-6004.
A transfer station runs packer trucks, roll-offs and transfer trailers across the same deck all day. The Diamondback 8560 steel deck carries the same 90,000 lb concentrated load rating at every standard size, and its CheckLink checking takes hard shocks and side loads with no further adjustment once set at installation. The same module wires as an analog summing system or as Intalogix®, so the interface is a decision you make at order time, not a different scale.
Pair the deck with a TS3300 indicator and a 218T remote display. The 218T is the 5.0 in. 218 display with a high-intensity LED traffic light in the same housing, so one pole position carries both the weight and the signal. Stop is a red X and go is a green dot, which means the state reads by shape and not by color alone.
Material recovery facilities, scrap yards and construction and demolition recyclers buy by weight and sell by weight, so the same deck sits on both sides of the margin. Where loaders and grapple traffic share the approach, the Diamondback 8550 field pour gives a 10 in. field-poured driving surface at 90,000 lb concentrated load and 135 tons. The wide-flange modules carry the wet concrete themselves, so the pour needs no shoring and no additional rebar.
A public works or DPW yard weighs road salt, gravel, brush and refuse across one deck, often for internal cost allocation rather than a customer invoice. The equipment decision is the same one a private transfer station makes: the traffic volume, the approach, and who calibrates it. Thurman distributors are factory-trained to install, calibrate and certify the scale.
Where weight sets a fee, the scale has to hold NTEP tolerances between inspections. The TS3311 digitizes each section at the scale and reports it continuously, so the indicator names the load cell at fault instead of a technician isolating it by elimination. Operator manuals, product bulletins and spec sheets download from this site with no form and no login. Installation and service manuals are in your distributor’s portal.
