Fleet and public truck scales

Know the weight
before it leaves

An overloaded trailer is a problem at the far end of the trip. Fleets, public scales and distribution centers weigh before dispatch, on a deck that holds its calibration under all-day traffic.

Weigh it at your own gate

A fleet that weighs on its own yard knows the number before the truck is on the road. The Falcon 8565 is an above-ground steel deck scale at 90,000 lb concentrated load and 60 to 150 tons, available in 28 standard configurations. Its load cells mount underneath the outside beams, so the driving surface is continuous and service happens from beside the platform rather than on the deck.

Public scales run on volume

A public scale earns on throughput, and throughput is a function of how fast the next truck can move. The TS3311 runs the transaction and reports each section continuously, so the indicator names the load cell at fault rather than leaving a technician to isolate it by elimination. A 218 remote display puts the weight on the driver’s sight line at up to 300 ft, so the driver reads it from the cab.

Distribution centers and cross-docks

Inbound and outbound truck weighing runs across the line. Where a site needs a short approach and no pit, the 8140 puts a mechanical side-arm weighbridge at grade level. No ramp, one weighing element to service, and the whole assembly above ground where you can see it. It carries NTEP Certificate of Conformance 88-036A2 with Measurement Canada approval AM-6004.

Intermodal, transload and bulk hauling

Rail transload sites, bulk liquid and dry-bulk haulers and intermodal terminals weigh the same vehicle several times a day. What the specification turns on is the approach, the traffic volume and who calibrates the scale — not the commodity. Where a site also weighs railcars, the 8765 above-ground track scale ships in assembled modules with the rails carried on the main girders. The 8765 is not Measurement Canada listed and is not approved for commercial use in Canada.

Any scale used to buy, sell or bill by weight needs a current approval in the country it operates in. NTEP covers the US; Measurement Canada is a separate approval, and an NTEP certificate does not clear Canada on its own. Both numbers publish on each product page where the record carries them.

One distributor for the whole system

The weighbridge, the interface, the indicator, the driver’s display and the printer are quoted, installed and calibrated by one independent, factory-trained distributor. For a fifteen-to-twenty year asset, that is the part of the decision worth checking.
