8140 Truck Scale
Above ground at an 18 in. profile, with the side rails built in
The 8140 S.A.M. goes in without field welding: the weighbridge arrives as factory-assembled modules, and matched step hinges join them on site. Its main beams double as side guard rails, so trucks stay fully on the scale. The overhaul is planned by count: a kit for the hardened alloy steel pivots and bearings is recommended every 200,000 weighments. Standard platforms run 25 to 90 ft long.
The welded raised-pattern steel deck rides on stringers that run the full length of the scale, under the tire path. Main levers load a 6 in. backbone pipe alongside the weighbridge, which drives one 1,000 lb S-type load cell. Levers arrive factory tested and sealed; on site, a section is adjusted at its nose iron. CLC is 60,000 lb, at 40 to 100 tons.
Features
Guard rails built into the weighbridge
The main beams act as side guard rails that keep trucks fully on the scale.
Strength under the tire path
Steel stringers run the full length of the scale, directly under the truck tire path.
Modules that bolt together
Step hinges are made as matched sets, so modules join on site without field welding.
Sections matched at the lever
Main levers are tested and sealed at the factory. On site, a section is adjusted by moving its nose iron.
Hardened pivots and bearings
Pivots and bearings are made of hardened, high-strength alloy steel.
Five-year weighbridge warranty
Repair or replacement for defective material or workmanship, with service twice a year under an authorized Preventive Maintenance Agreement held without lapse.

Questions
Is the 8140 S.A.M. legal for trade in the US and Canada?
Yes. It carries NTEP Certificate of Conformance 88-036A2 in the United States and Measurement Canada approval AM-6004 in Canada. They are separate approvals: an NTEP certificate alone does not clear a scale for commercial use in Canada.
What foundation does the 8140 need?
An above-ground concrete foundation built to the foundation drawings for the scale, on footings or a full slab. Soil must bear at least 3,000 lb per square foot unless the drawing states otherwise. Concrete must reach at least 4,000 psi. The drilled expansion anchors supplied with the scale go in after the concrete cures.
How often does the 8140 need servicing?
Inspect it at least every six months, more often under heavy traffic. Keep pivots and bearings clean and greased with lithium-based bearing grease, and check calibration after maintenance. A complete overhaul kit of pivots, bearings and suspension parts is recommended every 200,000 weighments.
