Site conditions drive the specification

Where a site is wet, corrosive or hosed down, the Falcon’s load cells are stainless rocker columns, hermetically sealed to IP69K. They mount under the outside I-beams, so they are checked and replaced from beside the platform. Where the duty is impact instead, the Diamondback 8560XD carries the highest concentrated load capacity Thurman builds: 130,000 lb at 135 tons. Both families are current, and the site decides which one fits.

An indicator that takes the washdown

The TS3312 is the TS3311 in a NEMA 4X stainless washdown housing, on a desk or wall stand. It is rated to 100 percent humidity, where the desktop build stops at 90. Intalogix® digitizes each section at the scale, so the indicator still names the load cell at fault. It carries NTEP Certificate of Conformance 25-080 with Measurement Canada approval AM-6004.

Terminals move product by rail

Petroleum, fuel, chemical and fertilizer terminals load and receive by rail as well as by road. The 8765 above-ground track scale ships in assembled modules, with the rails carried directly on the main girders. Nothing is hidden underneath. It is rated 85 tons per section on hermetically sealed stainless rocker column cells. The 8765 is not Measurement Canada listed and is not approved for commercial use in Canada.

Oil and gas sites move

Frac sand mines, transload points and produced-water disposal sites weigh heavy truck traffic on locations that change. The Falcon 8565 PV sits on a self-contained heavy-duty sub-frame with integrated bulkheads. It runs 90,000 lb concentrated load and 120 to 150 tons, in 60, 70 and 80 ft lengths. It is designed for an above-ground foundation and comes with Intalogix as standard.

Power generation weighs fuel and ash

A generating station receives fuel and ships ash and byproduct, and both legs are weighed. Where the traffic warrants a heavier deck, the Falcon 8565HD steps the steel deck up to 100,000 lb concentrated load capacity on 3/8 in. plate. It is a stiffer published deflection than the standard build, and it adds a 12 ft platform width. Scale capacity stays 60 to 150 tons.

Service on a long-lived asset

A scale on a plant site is a fifteen-to-twenty year asset, and the question worth asking early is who will calibrate it in year twelve. Every Thurman scale is sold, installed, calibrated and certified by independent, factory-trained distributors.
