We will never sell your data

Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone. This page explains what we collect, why, who handles it for us, and the choices you have. Last updated October 2, 2026.

The short version

  • We never sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. This is company policy, not fine print. We do advertise Thurman on other websites and in trade publications, but we never give advertisers information about the people who visit this site.
  • We run no third-party analytics. If we ever add it, it will be off until you opt in, and this page will say so first.
  • Our own statistics are totals, not profiles. They count page requests, sign-ins and site actions. They are not a record of who you are.
  • You give us personal information only when you choose to. That means the quote form, the contact form, the email updates sign-up, the distributor portal feedback form, or signing in to the distributor portal. We use it to answer you, to send the email you asked for, and to run the portal.
  • Marketing email only if you ask for it. The email box on our forms is never ticked for you, we never sell or share the list, and every email tells you how to stop.
  • Like every website, our hosting sees your IP address. We keep those logs for 90 days. We use them for security, for fixing faults and for traffic totals, and never to work out who you are or which company you work for.

What we collect, and why

Quote requests and contact messages

The quote form asks for your name, company, email, phone, ZIP or postal code, industry, product interest and a message about your loads and site. The contact form asks for your name, company, email, phone, what your message is about, and your message. Web3Forms, our form-delivery provider, sends what you submit to our team, who use it to answer you. Where it serves you better, sales passes your request to the authorized Thurman distributor for your area, so they can quote your exact configuration. Contact messages go to the sales, service or distributor team they belong to. Web3Forms also sends you a short email for us, confirming that we received your request or message. It contains no marketing.

Web3Forms keeps a copy of each submission for no more than three years, or for the shorter period we set in our account. To filter spam, Web3Forms sends your IP address and email address to its spam-screening services. In our own inbox, your request is kept as ordinary business correspondence for as long as we need it to serve you and to keep our business records. Your request is added to our email list only if you tick the box asking for it (see Email from us, below), and it is never sold.

Email from us

We send marketing email only to people who ask for it: by ticking the email box on the quote or contact form, or by signing up on the email updates page. The box is never ticked for you, and your request gets the same answer whether you tick it or not. Sign-ups reach us through Web3Forms, the same way as quote requests. When you sign up, Web3Forms sends you the same short confirmation for us. It is not marketing. If you didn't sign up, write to info@thurmanscale.com and we'll remove your address.

For the list we keep your email address, your name, the company and industry you gave us, and a record of when you agreed and the exact wording you agreed to. We use it to send occasional news about Thurman products, documents and service. We never sell or rent the list, we never give it to distributors or other companies, and we never add anyone to it who didn't ask, from the distributor portal or from anywhere else.

Every marketing email tells you how to unsubscribe. You can also write to info@thurmanscale.com or call 1-800-688-9741. We stop within 10 business days, usually much sooner. We send our marketing emails from our own email system. They don't track whether you open them, and they don't record which links you click. Links in them may carry a campaign tag (such as utm_campaign), so our traffic totals can count visits from each email; those totals never show who visited. If we start using an email-marketing service, or start measuring opens or clicks by person, this page will say so first. After you unsubscribe, we keep your address, the consent record and the dates for 3 years, so we can show we had your permission, and then delete them.

Distributor portal sign-in

The distributor portal is for authorized Thurman distributors. It is the one part of this site where we hold information about identified people. Access is a list of work email addresses that we maintain, and we add an address only at the request of the distributor's company. The account itself is created by us or by that contact with their work email; an account opens nothing unless its address is on our list. Each account is held in Microsoft Entra External ID, Microsoft's sign-in service, and holds the email address and the name entered for it.

Signing in sends a one-time code to that address; there is no password. Microsoft issues, delivers and checks the code, and we never see or store it. When you sign in, Microsoft passes our site your email address, the name on your account and account identifiers. Our site checks the address against the access list and records whether access was granted, but not who asked. The only statistic we take from this is the number of sign-ins per day.

Microsoft keeps its own record of each sign-in in our sign-in service for 7 days: the time, your IP address, your approximate location, your browser and device, and whether it succeeded. It also records the changes we make to distributor accounts, such as creating or removing one. We may keep a copy of these records in our Azure account for up to 90 days to investigate misuse of distributor accounts. Addresses stay on the list while the person needs access. We remove them when they don't, and we delete the sign-in account with them. To be removed, ask us or ask your company. Either works. This is not a marketing list. These addresses were given to us to grant access to distributor documents, and we won't use them for campaigns.

Distributor portal feedback

The portal's feedback form asks for your name, company, email, a topic and your feedback. Email is filled in from your sign-in, and you can change it. The form also sends the portal page you were on and the portal page before it, so a problem report says where it happened. Web3Forms delivers it to the Thurman team that runs the portal. It is handled the same way as a quote request, except that no confirmation email is sent: Web3Forms keeps a copy for the period above, and your IP address and email address go to its spam screening.

Document downloads

No document on this site asks for an email address. Every manual, bulletin and spec sheet in the library downloads immediately, with no form and no sign-in. Portal documents need the portal sign-in, and nothing more. Like any other request, a download appears in the hosting logs described below.

Site statistics

We care about which pages and documents help people, and we measure it in ways that do not build a profile of you.

  • Hosting totals. Microsoft Azure gives us daily totals: requests, errors, data served and the number of portal sign-ins. From the hosting logs described below we also count how many times each document is downloaded, how many quote, contact and email sign-up requests are completed, and which websites and ad campaigns sent visitors. That last count comes from the linking page your browser reports and from any campaign tag in the link you followed (such as utm_campaign). These are counts. They show no names and no addresses.
  • Our own anonymous counter. It counts four actions: sending a quote request, opening a document, searching the distributor locator, and choosing a state on the distributor map. When you do one of them, your browser tells our server the action's name. We record the action, the page it happened on and the time it happened. We do not store your IP address, set a cookie, or keep anything that could identify you or your device. It holds nothing about who you are, so it runs for everyone, including visitors who decline analytics. Records are deleted after 90 days.
  • No third-party analytics. This site does not currently use Google Analytics or any other third-party analytics service.

Hosting and security logs

The site runs on Microsoft Azure, behind Azure Front Door and its web application firewall. Every request to the site passes through Microsoft's servers, from every visitor. With it go your IP address, the address you asked for, the time, your browser's identifying string and the page that linked you. Microsoft uses this to deliver the site and block attacks. The firewall blocks requests for common attack paths and limits how often the sign-in and counter addresses can be called.

We keep access and firewall logs in our Azure account for 90 days. We use them to detect and investigate attacks, to diagnose faults, and to produce traffic totals, such as downloads per document, completed requests, and visits per referring website or ad campaign. We don't use these logs, or any other tool, to identify the people or companies visiting the site, and we don't combine them with anything you send us.

Cookies

We set no cookie for tracking or advertising. These are the only cookies the site uses, and it stores nothing in your browser's local storage or session storage:

Who handles your information

These service providers process information on our behalf, each for a defined job:

  • Microsoft. Azure hosts the site and runs the firewall and its logs. Microsoft Entra External ID runs the distributor sign-in and sends the one-time codes.
  • Web3Forms, operated by Web3Creative from India. It delivers quote, contact, email sign-up and feedback submissions, sends the confirmation emails described above, and keeps copies as described above. It uses Amazon Web Services for hosting, storage and email delivery, Cloudflare for its network and security, Hetzner for application servers in Germany and Finland, and CleanTalk and Akismet for spam screening. The spam-screening services receive the submitter's IP address and email address. Web3Forms also uses Microsoft Clarity to record activity on its own dashboard; we read submissions in our inbox, not in that dashboard.
  • Our email provider, which hosts the inboxes that receive form submissions, and from which we send the email you ask for.

When sales passes your quote request to an authorized Thurman distributor, that distributor is an independent business and handles your request under its own privacy practices. Beyond these, your information goes to no one, except where the law requires us to disclose it, or if the Thurman business is sold or merged, in which case it passes to the new owner under the terms of this page. That is a transfer of the business, never a sale of your information.

Where your information is processed

We serve customers in the United States and Canada, and our providers process information outside Canada. The site's Azure resources are in the central United States, and Azure Front Door delivers the site through Microsoft's global network. The sign-in service is in the United States. Web3Forms operates from India, with servers in the United States, the European Union and elsewhere. If you are in Canada, your information may be processed in these countries, and courts and authorities there may be able to access it under their laws. We choose providers who protect it under contract.

Children

This site is for businesses that buy and service industrial scales. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

Security

Everything is sent over HTTPS. The site sits behind a web application firewall. Only named Thurman administrators can change the portal access list, and only the list decides who gets in. No system is perfectly secure. If you believe your information has been exposed, tell us at the address below.

How we manage personal information

Our Privacy Officer is responsible for how Thurman handles personal information and approves the practices on this page. Information is handled only by the people who need it for a task: our sales and service staff answer requests; the team that runs this website manages the forms, the distributor portal and its access list; and the service providers above process it only for the jobs described. We keep information only for the periods in the table above, then delete it. Complaints and requests go to the Privacy Officer, as described below. We review these practices at least once a year, and before we change how we collect or use personal information.

Your choices and rights

We extend the same rights to everyone, wherever you live. Write to info@thurmanscale.com or call 1-800-688-9741 to ask what we hold about you, correct it, have it deleted, or withdraw a consent you gave. We may ask you to confirm your identity before acting, for example by replying from the email address the request is about, so that we release or delete information only for the person it belongs to. Someone you authorize can make the request for you. We reply within 30 days, and we will never treat you differently for making a request.

Complaints. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, write to our Privacy Officer at info@thurmanscale.com with "Privacy" in the subject line, or call 1-800-688-9741. We confirm we've received it within 5 business days, look into it, and give you a written answer within 30 days, including anything we changed as a result.

Appeals. If we turn down a request, in whole or in part, we'll tell you why. You can ask us to reconsider by replying to our answer. Someone who wasn't involved in the first decision will review it and reply within 30 days. If we still say no, we'll tell you how to contact your state attorney general or your privacy regulator.

California and other US states. We do not sell personal information. We do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We do not use sensitive personal information to infer anything about you. The categories we collect are the ones described above: identifiers and contact details you give us, portal sign-in records, and internet activity in hosting logs and, if you allow it, analytics.

Canada. If you're not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. In Québec, you can contact the Commission d'accès à l'information.

Links to other sites

The distributor locator links to distributors' own websites, and the portal sign-in takes you to Microsoft's sign-in page. Those sites have their own privacy practices. Your use of this site is also covered by our terms of use.
