Diamondback 8560XD Extreme Duty Truck Scale
130,000 lb concentrated load capacity, for off-road haul traffic
Mines and quarries often weigh off-road haul trucks, whose axle loads are not set by highway weight limits. The Diamondback 8560XD is built for that traffic, with 135 tons of scale capacity. The electronics mount on the side of the weighbridge. The open bottom leaves 5-3/8 in. of clearance for a crew to clean out debris.
The deck is 3/8 in. welded diamond-tread steel plate over 16 in. structural I-beams, at a 1/2600 deflection ratio. Double-ended shear beam load cells rated at 100,000 lb carry it through parallel links. Checking combines CheckLink with four bumper check bolts at the ends, set during installation. Standard platforms run 60 to 80 ft long and 10 to 14 ft wide.
Features
Room to clean out underneath
The open bottom leaves 5-3/8 in. of clearance for cleaning out beneath the deck.
Traction on the deck
Diamond tread on the deck plate promotes tire traction and deck durability.
Sealed load cells
The cells are nickel plated and internally potted, with a welded cover over the strain gage.
Checking set once at installation
Four end check bolts are threaded to about 1/8 in. from the bumper plate, then locked.
Five-year weighbridge warranty
Repair or replacement for defective material or workmanship, with service twice a year under an authorized Preventive Maintenance Agreement held without lapse.

Hung from both ends of the beam
Every Diamondback, steel deck, field pour, portable and XD, sits on the same mount at each load cell. The weighbridge rests on a load pin, the pin hangs in two links, and the links hang from the two ends of a double-ended shear beam. The links absorb the motion and shock of trucks stopping and starting, which protects the cell.

- Pin seats. The weighbridge rests on the two ends of the load pin.
- Load pin. Carried in the bottom of both links, it passes through the corner stand.
- Two links. One hangs from each end of the beam.
- Double-ended shear beam. Loaded at both ends and supported at its center on the stand. The 8560XD carries 100,000 lb cells; the steel deck, field pour and portable carry 75,000 lb.
- Corner stand. Anchored to the foundation. CheckLink builds the checking into this mount, so it needs no further adjustment once set at installation.
- At rest: the load hangs plumb from both ends of the beam.
- Braking: the links swing with the weighbridge, which then settles back to center.
Braking moves the links, and the weighbridge comes back to center
The weighbridge hangs below the load cells instead of sitting on top of them. When a truck brakes or pulls away, the links swing with the weighbridge. Once the push is over, it settles back to center under its own weight.
The same links let it move in any direction across the foundation: parallel links give every Diamondback full 360-degree shock suspension.
On the 8560XD, checked along the direction of travel
Haul trucks brake and pull away along the length of the scale. On the 8560XD, the load cells and load pins run the same way, along both sides of the weighbridge. Four bumper check bolts, two at each end, face the end walls and are set during installation. The bolts work alongside CheckLink at every cell; the steel deck, field pour and portable builds check through CheckLink alone.
- Direction of travel. Trucks brake and pull away along the length of the scale.
- Load cell and load pin, running along the scale, with a link at each end of the cell.
- Bumper check bolts, two at each end, facing the end walls. Set during installation.
- End wall, with the bumper plate each check bolt faces.

What you see on an XD

Cells and electronics on the sideEach load cell pocket sits beside its electronics enclosure on the side of the weighbridge, worked from outside the bridge.
Above groundThe 8560XD installs on an above-ground foundation at a 21-5/8 in. deck height, and every cell mount is in view from the side of the scale.

Questions
Is the Diamondback 8560XD legal for trade in the US and Canada?
Yes. It carries NTEP Certificate of Conformance 89-016 in the United States and Measurement Canada approval AM-6004 in Canada. They are separate approvals: an NTEP certificate alone does not clear a scale for commercial use in Canada.
What foundation does the Diamondback 8560XD need?
A concrete foundation built to the certified drawings supplied with the scale. The soil must bear at least 3,000 PSF, and the concrete mix must reach 4,000 psi. Traffic waits 28 days, or until a test cylinder shows design strength. Expansion anchors ship with the scale.
How many load cells does the scale use?
Two per section. A four-section scale uses eight load cells and a five-section scale uses ten. The base module carries four, and each intermediate or end module carries two.
