TS255 Indicator - Stainless NEMA 4X
Full keypad entry, in a housing you can hose down
On meat, poultry and dairy lines, operators key tare weights and lot or container IDs at the scale instead of scrolling values. The NEMA 4X enclosure meets general food and other industrial washdown requirements. Multi-point calibration, to four points, corrects linearity on stainless tanks and vessels that do not track a single span. Piece counting, accumulation and peak hold are standard.
The 304 series stainless enclosure ships with a stainless swivel desk/wall bracket and takes its cabling through sealing glands. Weights-and-measures sealing is done at a cover plate over the calibration switch, without opening the enclosure. The analog section reads eight 350 ohm or sixteen 1000 ohm load cells. COM1 and COM2 are standard as RS232, RS422 or RS485, with 20 mA passive on COM2. The optional stainless Ethernet TCP accessory can be installed with a PLC interface.

The technical picture
The TS255 in 304 series stainless steel pairs a 21-key numeric front panel with a NEMA 4X enclosure. That enclosure meets general food and other industrial washdown requirements. Operators key tare weights and lot IDs at the scale, not through a scroll key.
Two serial ports are standard and wire through sealing glands: COM1 and COM2 as RS232, RS422 or RS485, plus 20 mA passive on COM2. Ethernet TCP accessory 33557 is the stainless version. It can be installed alongside a PLC interface option, which the ABS enclosure does not allow. Shipping weight is 12 lb.
The analog section reads eight 350 ohm or sixteen 1000 ohm load cells with capacity programmable to 999,999. Multi-point calibration accepts up to four points to correct linearity on platforms and tanks. Calibration access is a bolted cover plate that also carries the wire lead seal.

Includes internal cabling. 16-bit, passive. Cannot be installed with a PLC interface option. Requires an isolated, dedicated power supply, one per module; most PLC power supplies are not isolated.

Bluetooth Class I accessoryIndicator side
Powered by the indicator and supplied with cable 29402. Runs over COM1 or COM2 as RS232, with a range of 100 m (328 ft). A link needs the far end as well: 29515 for the PC or printer side, AC adapter 29639 where its USB power cable does not suit, and cable 24331Q to reach a printer. The indicator is the server when it connects to a printer and the client when it connects to a PC.

Which TS255 enclosure belongs on a washdown line?
The 304 stainless NEMA 4X build, part number 34663. The literature states it meets general food and other industrial washdown requirements. The ABS build is rated NEMA 1 and is specified for dry indoor rooms. No IP rating is published for either enclosure, so specify by NEMA rating.
Can the stainless TS255 talk to a PLC and the plant network at once?
Yes, on this enclosure. Item 33557, the Ethernet TCP accessory for SS NEMA 4X, can be installed with a PLC interface option. Item 33555 for ABS cannot. Both are separately priced, field-installed accessories. The 4-20 mA module cannot be combined with a PLC interface on any enclosure.
What is the legal-for-trade status?
NTEP Certificate of Conformance 15-099 covers the TS255 Series for commercial use up to 10,000 divisions against NIST Handbook 44. Measurement Canada approval AM-6002 is a separate approval carrying its own number. Peak hold and piece-count modes are not legal for trade.
What does the numeric keypad change day to day?
Tare weights are keyed and confirmed with ENTER instead of being incremented digit by digit. Numeric IDs are entered with the ID key, and time, date and configuration values are typed. MENU and the arrow keys move through sub-menus directly. On the six-key TS250 the same edits are made by scrolling.
How many load cells will it drive?
Eight 350 ohm cells or sixteen 1000 ohm cells, at 5 VDC excitation and 1 microvolt per division sensitivity. Cable distance depends on sense leads: four 350 ohm cells reach 100 ft with sense leads and 25 ft without; eight 350 ohm cells reach 50 ft with sense leads.
