One pole, both directions, and LEDs you can retrofit
One pole covers a lane approached from both ends: light 183488 signals both directions, and 183381 signals one. For a new pole, kits 183489 and 183490 put the light, slipfitter, 8 ft pole, square base and anchor bolts on one item number. Modules 183461 green and 183462 red convert an installed incandescent light to LED in its own housing. LED service life is stated at up to 15 years.
Each is an 8 in. two-section head with a tunnel visor and red and green LED modules. The housing is die-cast aluminum alloy, ribbed top and bottom and powder coated. Lenses are UV and heat stabilized polycarbonate, and an EPDM gasket keeps the interior moisture and dust-tight. A 72-tooth serrated boss aims the head once the pole is set.

The technical picture
Thurman LED traffic signals control lane movement at truck and railroad track scales, with item 183381 signalling one direction and item 183488 signalling two. Each is an 8 in. two-section head with a tunnel visor and red and green LED modules, in a die-cast aluminum alloy housing ribbed top and bottom.
Lenses are injection-molded polycarbonate: UV and heat stabilized, flame retardant, permanently colored. An EPDM gasket seats in a cast channel for a moisture and dust-tight interior, and the door latches on stainless steel eyebolts and wing nuts.
A 72-tooth serrated boss aims the head once the pole is set. Kits 183489 and 183490 add a slipfitter, a 4.5 in. x 8 ft aluminum pole, a square base and epoxy anchor bolts. No light and no kit includes a control box, and the LED modules are ETL verified and RoHS compliant, with a service life of up to 15 years.

TL1 wall mount kit
Both require light 183381. 105632 takes conduit entry through the wall; 105634 takes conduit entry through the bottom bracket. Choose one.
713 Series relay boxDry contact
For use with TS600 indicators and 183381 traffic lights. Ships with one 6 VDC relay controlling one set of lights; a second relay must be ordered for a second set, to a maximum of two. Requires relay box interface card 30920 and box-to-indicator cable 17216. Lights switched by the relays must be powered from an external source.
Relay box interface card
Required to connect the ACC 713 relay box to a TS600 or TS3300 indicator. Priced separately from the indicator. Not required where a 218T display drives the lights over the 20 mA interface.
Manual traffic light box
For use with the 85293 and 86019 traffic lights only. Not for use with the 218T or the ACC 778 - order item 30006 for those.

Specifier & operator FAQ
What is the difference between 183381 and 183488?
Direction. 183381 is the one-direction light at 20 lb and 183488 is the two-direction light at 45 lb. Both are 8 in. two-section heads with a tunnel visor and red and green LED modules. Slipfitter 86573 is not included with either. Complete pole kits are 183489 for one direction and 183490 for two.
Is a control box included?
No. Traffic lights and traffic light kits do not include a control box; one must be added to the order. Relay box 37432 gives automatic control from a TS600 indicator and needs a relay interface card plus cable 17216. It ships with one relay and takes a second for a second set of lights.
Are the pole and mounting hardware included?
No. Poles, mounting hardware and cables are not included, and slipfitter 86573 is not supplied with 183381 or 183488. Order kit 183489 or 183490 to get the light, slipfitter, 4.5 in. x 8 ft pole, square base and epoxy anchor bolts on one line. Wall mounting uses kit 105632 or 105634.
Can an installed incandescent traffic light be converted to LED?
Yes. Bulletin 51689 covers the conversion using a 3/16 screwdriver. Remove power, open the housing, save the retaining screws and steel tabs, rotate the bulb housing off its pivot pins and unwire the old light. Fit the LED module on the same screws and tabs, then wire it; the white wire is the common. Modules are 183461 green and 183462 red.
Which indicator drives these lights?
The ACC 713 relay box (37432) is listed for TS600 indicators and for 183381 lights, and its manual states compatibility with the TS6XX indicator. It uses the voltage from the relay interface card to switch, so it needs no separate power supply. Lights switched by the relays take their own AC supply from an external source.
What approvals do these signals carry?
Literature 100629 states that the LED modules are ETL verified and RoHS compliant. No NTEP Certificate of Conformance and no Measurement Canada approval is published for the signals, and none would be expected: a traffic light carries no weighing element. Legal-for-trade status rests with the scale and indicator on the order.
