ACC 778 LED traffic light on a tri-stud slipfitter, black NEMA 3 steel head showing the 5 in. red X stop signal
Traffic Signal

ACC 778 LED Traffic Light

Model: ACC 778

Red X for stop, green dot for go, read at 300 ft

The ACC 778 puts the signal where the driver's sight line needs it, apart from the weight display. It mounts on a 4.5 in. pole or flat to a scale-house wall. Manual box 30006 runs it from the scale house; relay card 30920 lets a TS600 or TS3300 sequence it automatically. LED life expectancy is more than 11 years, on a pole-top fixture that needs a lift to reach.

The 5 in. green dot and 5 in. red X are LED, so the signal changes shape as well as color. The enclosure is black powder-coated steel rated NEMA 3. AC power is hard wired in the field, and no cord is supplied. Slipfitter 86573 for a pole or plate 29769 for a wall is ordered separately, and one of the two is required.

Features & benefits

5 in. green dot and 5 in. red X indication

The stop and go signals differ in shape as well as color, so color is not the only cue.

NEMA 3 black powder-coated steel enclosure

Rated for outdoor use against wind-blown rain, sleet, ice and dust at the lane.

300 ft viewing distance

Sets the head far enough back that a driver reads it on the approach to the deck.

LED life expectancy more than 11 years

A published service life for a pole-top fixture that needs a lift to reach.

Pole or wall mounting, ordered separately

Slipfitter 86573 takes a 4.5 in. pole. Wall plate 29769 takes a flat surface.

117 VAC plus or minus 15 percent, 50/60 Hz at 100 mA, hard wired on site by the installer.

Manual or automatic control

Manual box 30006, or automatic sequencing from an indicator through relay card 30920.

0 to 95 percent non-condensing humidity range

Published environmental limits, with storage temperature from 0 F to 150 F.

For the specifier

The technical picture

The ACC 778 is a standalone red and green traffic light for a truck or rail scale lane. It shows a 5 in. green dot to go and a 5 in. red X to stop, so the signal changes shape as well as color. Viewing distance is 300 ft, and power is 117 VAC plus or minus 15 percent, 50/60 Hz at 100 mA.

The enclosure is black powder-coated steel rated NEMA 3, with storage temperature from 0 F to 150 F and humidity from 0 to 95 percent non-condensing. Mount the head on a 4.5 in. pole with slipfitter 86573, or flat to a wall with plate 29769. Neither ships with the light, and no power cord is supplied; AC is hard wired in the field.

A traffic control box is ordered separately. Manual box 30006 runs the ACC 778 from the scale house. For automatic sequencing from a TS600 or TS3300 indicator, add relay box interface card 30920 instead. LED life expectancy is more than 11 years.

Questions

Specifier & operator FAQ

Does the ACC 778 include a control box?

No, a traffic control box is not included. Order manual box 30006, which is listed for use with 218T and ACC 778 traffic lights only. Manual box 11340 is explicitly not for use with an ACC 778. For automatic control from an indicator, add relay box interface card 30920 instead of a manual box.

How does the ACC 778 mount?

On a 4.5 in. pole with slipfitter 86573, or on a wall with plate 29769. One of the two is required and neither ships with the light. Poles, mounting hardware and cables are separate line items: pole 85294, square base 85295, cap 85296 and anchor bolt set 144565.

Can a scale indicator sequence the light automatically?

Yes. Relay box interface card 30920 is the connection point for an ACC 778 and is listed under TS600 and TS3300 indicators. The card is priced separately from the indicator. Where a 218T remote display already drives the lights over the 20 mA interface, the card is not required.

What power does the ACC 778 need?

117 VAC plus or minus 15 percent, 50/60 Hz, drawing 100 mA. No power cord is supplied. AC power is hard wired in the field, so allow for conduit to the pole or wall position during site work.

Is the ACC 778 covered by NTEP or Measurement Canada approval?

The ACC 778 is a signalling accessory and carries no weighing element, so no NTEP Certificate of Conformance or Measurement Canada approval number is published for it. The enclosure is rated NEMA 3. Legal-for-trade status is set by the scale and indicator on the order, not by the traffic light.

What is the shipping weight and shipping point?

Shipping weight is 20 lb for the light and 5 lb for wall mount plate 29769. Both ship FOB St. Johnsbury, VT, while most other Thurman traffic light hardware ships FOB Meridian, MS, so a mixed order ships as split freight.
