295 Series Ticket Printer

Model: 295

An 8 lb ticket printer that fits beside the indicator

One pass makes the file copy and the driver copy, with up to four copies on carbonless paper. The operator inserts the form, so the site can run its own custom multi-part ticket. The ribbon is a cartridge change at the counter, and the operator aligns or frees a ticket at the printer without touching the indicator. The cabinet measures 4 x 7 x 7.5 in.

It is a dot-matrix slip printer on an RS232C input, 110 to 9600 baud. Print width is 2.59 in. at 35 characters per line, and the ticket layout lives in the indicator.

The technical picture

The 295 Series is a serial slip printer for scale tickets. The operator inserts a form and the indicator sends the data and the layout. Input is RS232C, 110 to 9600 baud, on a 25-pin D-subminiature female connector. Item 24741. Cable 15599 connects a TS250 or TS255; cable 14807 connects a TS600 Series indicator.

The cabinet measures 4 x 7 x 7.5 in and ships at 8 lb, so it fits a crowded scale-house counter. Power is 115 VAC, 50/60 Hz, on a grounded three-wire circuit. A 230 VAC build is available by inquiry. Three LEDs report power, release and paper out.

Print width is 2.59 in at 2.1 lines per second, uni-directional. A line holds 35 characters, or 17 expanded. One insertion yields up to four copies on carbonless paper, or two with carbon interleaf. The document stop adjusts from 1.04 in to 1.44 in and lifts out. Consumables are the 3-part ticket 98948 and ribbon cartridge 14979.

Questions

Specifier & operator FAQ

Which indicators drive the 295 Series?

Two interface cables are offered: 15599 for a TS250 or TS255, and 14807 for a TS600 Series indicator. Manual 51367 lists the 295 among the ticket printers the TS250 supports, and manual 51423 gives the TS611, TS612 and TS613 switch settings. The TS3300 operator manual also lists it as a supported serial printer, but no TS3300 cable is published.

Is the 295 Series legal for trade?

No NTEP Certificate of Conformance number and no Measurement Canada approval number for this printer appears in any source read, so both fields are blank. The two are separate approvals and neither implies the other. The printer receives data and set-up from the indicator, so recording-element coverage sits with the indicator's certificate. Confirm it with the weights and measures authority.

How many ticket copies does one insertion produce?

Up to four copies with carbonless paper, or two copies with carbon interleaf. The stock form is scale ticket 98948, a 3-part carbonless ticket measuring 4 in by 7.25 in, supplied 1,000 to the box. Thurman custom prints the ticket with a company name, address, assigned numbering or a different layout. The minimum order is 1,000 and delivery runs three to four weeks.

Is the interface cable included in the printer price?

The cable is a separate item number, but there is no charge when the cable or connector kit is ordered with the printer. It must be specified on the order. Use 15599 for a TS250 or TS255 and 14807 for a TS600 Series indicator. Connector kits 13486 and 15585 supply the connector alone.

How do the 295 and the 590 differ?

They suit different tickets and different desks. The 295 prints 2.59 in wide at 35 characters per line, measures 4 by 7 by 7.5 in and weighs 8 lb. The 590 prints 135.6 mm wide at 88 or 66 columns, measures 9.92 by 7.28 by 10.47 in and weighs 15 lb. Copy capability is up to four carbonless on the 295 and one original plus four copies on the 590. Match the print width to the customer's ticket.

What are the print speed and margins?

Print speed is 2.1 lines per second, uni-directional. Print line length is 2.59 in. A line holds 35 characters at 0.07 in character width, or 17 characters at 0.14 in expanded width. Character height is 0.114 in. The print area allows a 0.09 in top margin and a 0.20 in right margin.
