218 Series 1.5 in. Remote Display
A 218 in NEMA 4X stainless, for the room that gets hosed down
Operators read the weight across a production room or a packing line, at up to 75 ft (23 m). The NEMA 4X stainless housing is rated 0 to 100 percent non-condensing humidity. It ships on a desk and wall swivel bracket, so a bench or wall installation needs no extra hardware. A TS3302 or TS3312 washdown indicator in the same room drives it from its standard RS-232 or 20 mA port.
Six 1.5 in. high-intensity red LED digits carry LB, KG, GR and NT legends. RS232C, 20 mA and RS485 inputs are standard, and learn mode reads the incoming string. Brightness holds a fixed level from 20 to 100 percent, and it runs on AC power.
Features & benefits
Six 1.5 in. high-intensity red LED digits
Readable at up to 75 ft, across a production room, a bench or a packing line.
NEMA 4X stainless steel enclosure
Built for washdown, and rated 0 to 100 percent non-condensing humidity.
Desk or wall mount swivel bracket included
Stands on a bench or hangs on a wall with no pole plate or clamp set to order.
RS232C, 20 mA and RS485 inputs standard
All three are on the board, for cable runs of 50 ft, 1,000 ft and 4,000 ft respectively.
Learn mode
Reads the format of the incoming serial string, so the display suits an indicator already in service.
Time and date from the display's own clock
The indicator does not have to send time and date for the display to show them.
Fixed brightness from 20 to 100 percent
Holds one set level under constant plant lighting.
What's included
- 218 display, 1.5 in. characters (27741)
- Visor over the display face
- Desk and wall mount swivel bracket
- Accessory 334 DB9 connector kit, item 13486
- AC power cord exiting a watertight gland in the base
The technical picture
The 1.5 in. 218 repeats the indicator's weight in a NEMA 4X stainless steel housing rated 0 to 100 percent non-condensing humidity. Six 1.5 in. high-intensity red LED digits with LB, KG, GR and NT legends read at up to 75 ft: across a production room, a packing line or a bench.
Inside, it is the same 218. RS232C, 20 mA and RS485 inputs are standard, learn mode reads the format of the incoming string, and time and date are generated in the display. It ships on a desk and wall swivel bracket with a visor, so no pole hardware is ordered.

Options & accessories
Item numbers and availability are confirmed at quotation. Ask your distributor to verify configuration and compatibility before ordering.
Added in the field Order any time
4-conductor 22-gauge cable
Required from the indicator to the display and ordered by the foot. The interface sets the run: 50 ft on RS232C, 1,000 ft on 20 mA, 4,000 ft on RS485.
Temperature module
Field installed in any 218 display. Shows temperature from -50 F to 150 F, in Fahrenheit or Celsius.
Specifier & operator FAQ
How is the 1.5 in. 218 different from the 5.0 in. 218?
Digit size, housing and viewing distance. The 1.5 in. has 1.5 in. digits in NEMA 4X stainless and reads at up to 75 ft. The 5.0 in. has 5.0 in. digits in NEMA 3 painted steel and reads at up to 300 ft. Both carry the same six-digit LED readout, the same three inputs, learn mode and in-display clock.
Which indicators will drive it?
An indicator with a continuous serial output on RS232C, 20 mA or RS485. The TS3300 connects on its standard RS-232 or 20 mA port, which suits the TS3302 and TS3312 washdown indicators in the same room. Learn mode reads the format of an unfamiliar string.
Can the auto brightness setting be used?
Not on 1.5 in. displays built after October 1, 2023. On those, set a fixed level of 20, 40, 60, 80 or 100 percent. On earlier units, auto follows ambient light.
Can it be pole mounted?
Not with the standard hardware. It ships with a desk and wall swivel bracket, and the pole mount plate and clamp sets are listed for the 5.0 in. displays. Ask your distributor before planning a pole position.
